Once again we are looking forward to sharing our music with you. Our director Syd Griffith has chosen music that spans several genres and has certainly challenged us in different ways. Yet always the music brings us back to that space where we experience the joy of joining our voices in glorious harmonies and challenging rhythms. Thank you Syd and Jim for enabling the choir in its quest to sing well and with hwyl, a Welsh word that expresses the deep sense of joy that comes with being totally in the moment. That, my friends is what choral singing is all about!
This year we are delighted to present an arrangement of BIRDSONG by Zach Power. Zach and his wife Julia sang with NLCC for two seasons. Zach was also our interim director. How lucky we are to have this piece in our repertoire. Jennifer Lucy Cook’s award winning piece, TIME, is rhythmically challenging and totally pertinent for our busy lives. And for fans of John Rutter, we will rock your sacred soul when singing his For the Beauty of the Earth..
On April 18th NLCC and The Serious Options Choir from Kamloops will each perform several works in an afternoon concert at Nexus. NLCC will perform an arrangement of two well loved folk songs (Throw a Saddle On A Star and The Touch of God’s Hand) by our very own Julia Armstrong.
Please spread the word, and come join with us for another musical experience that will bring a smile to your heart!
